Day 132
Wednesday 16th of March 2016
Up early today for a field trip to the southern Cambodian border, meet with the head of the department to be taken to breakfast (which included a green salad) , which he shouted me again, i'm not sure if or when I am meant to return the favour.
Headed off down south, most of the way I slept through. Arrived the first stop where I was told I could wait at the car. And I did. Once that business was wrapped up we headed to the second stop a cantaloupe farm. We had been interested in these as they are an alternative to watermelon (which are dieing), I took notes to send back to Australia and took some photos.
Next we headed to lunch at a roadside restaurant then onto a swish and out of place duty free shopping center on the Cambodian/Laos land border for coffee/ice coco.
Stopped off on the way home to pick up fish which I am assured are fatter and cheaper than up in Pakse, as well as picking up some sort of weasel type animal. Could see Cambodia across the river.
Headed home most of the way I slept through. Stopped off at a servo which had a monkey enclosure.
Once back to the office, I sampled some aphids, then decided to walk to the bank to check if the money came in. After the 20min walk in the head, the ATM was out of order, So I took the gamble and headed on to the far market. The gamble paid off as the ATM was working AND the money had cleared. The money was accepted this time despite no details changing.
Headed home for a needed shower via a tuk tuk ( I told him to go near the police station, and when he arrived and I pointed out where to stop he just said the name of my landlady, guess I should start with that next time). Grabbed dinner which I could pay for then headed home again.
