Day 91
Thursday 4th of February 2016
Headed to the nearby guest house to grab a lift to the parents hotel, where we picked them up and headed to our boat to take us down the Mekong to Wat Phu.
Boat was a covered long boat with a stick motor... and I have no idea how else to describe it, best you see the below images to understand.
The boat ride too about 2 hours (about an hour more than driving), so we saw plenty of the river, which provided a cool breeze. On arrival we arranged for a van to take us the rest of the way to Wat Phu (which is inland slightly). Took the stairs to the top, where we brought some welcome drinks.
After seeing all the sites we headed back down to check out the museum, grabbing ice cream, banana fritters and arriving at the van which "waited" for us.
Looked at the visitors center while waiting for out boat before heading off.
Arrived in Pakse where we walked to the fancy cafe in town, to get drinks, before seeing the local Wat (the non ruined one in town) then walking back to the parents hotel. From there we dropped off some fabric to be made into skirts (not personally for me) at the local tailor and then grabbing dinner.
walked the parents back to the hotel as I forgot my bag there.
