Day 92
Friday 5th of February 2016
Left the parents to their own devices today as I was "needed" at work. We headed out to a coffee plantation where it turned out it was quite a modern operation, with the issue not being about control the insect but about small hold farmers not controlling it, leading to a greater landscape population.
This is good for me as it means my placement finally has a direction in a field I know about.
Was provided with tea and water while up there, but I turned down the 3rd bottle of water I was offered. In Lao culture is polite to offer a glass of water to guests.
Arrived back to the office to finish up the day before heading to catch up with the parents. Spent the afternoon doing some light shopping, unsuccessfully trying to pick up tailored dresses (I've just looked it up, They must have said "mu hu, day after tomorrow" not "mu ewn, tomorrow". Also took the guests to massages, drinks and dinner at the Italian restaurant which happen to have gluten free pasta from a volunteer who just left.
After dinner we tried a snow flake icy, a Taiwan style ice cream, and then parted ways.
