Day 195: Wednesday 18th of May 2016

Day 195
Wednesday 18th of May 2016

Up early for a tour of the My Son ruins today. Headed to breakfast where 15mins before we were meant to leave we were told out tour guide had arrived, but to finish breakfast. Five mins beforehand we were told it was time to go , so sculled my juice and we were walked to the nearby bus, which left as soon as we arrived.

Arrived at the Champa ruins of My Son (the empire next to the Khmer empire), where we took an electric buggy shuttle and were taken along a loop track of the ruins, many of which have been destroyed by US carpet bombing.

Afterwards we took the bus to a nearby river and took the boat back to town via a wood carving village, mostly a tourist trap, but the carving industry does exist and the island is nice. The boat ride over was in a small 3 berth boat, but we were still provided in cruise service in the form of rice and veggies as well as water, with soft drink for sale.

Arrived back at the old town docks, where we went straight for a second fitting then back to the hotel for a swim. We also brought mango cakes which tasted nothing like mango, so we brought another one later thinking we got the wrong ones, which also tasted nothing like mango.

Headed out to dinner by the river followed by Sheridan undertaking a silk lantern making lesson, she was photographed by many chinese while undertaking this endeavor.

Something is strange with the internet here and it wont let me upload images or use twitter. Will keep trying.
