Day 29
Friday 4rd of December 2015
Started today heading out to a greenhouse we have to see the area and test out our sample nets. Once I got back I was going to head out to renew my visa, only to be asked if I could help a exporter with a pest problem. Bit out of my realm but ok, but first I had to renew my visa before lunch.
The process to renew a visa is as follows:
- pay for ID photos
- pay for photocopying of 2 pages from your passport
- Pay for the application form
- complete application form
- pay the processing fee
- hand over your passport (until monday)
- go to window 2
- pay US$2 per day of extension
- pick up passport in 2 days
Simple. Except I finished the form at 11:20 so the windows had obviously closed for lunch. Had to hand the rest of the forms at 2pm.
After that was sorted I went to help with the exporters... to be met with all the owners of the business and technical officers (including expats). They also seemed to be under the impression I had been working in Laos as an expert in export quarantine for some time. Fun ensured. Although it appears I may be able to help.
After work I went to the market and brought a folding table and a bag for laundry. I am currently typing from the table. No using a laptop on a bed for me.
