Friday 8th of January 2016
Today we took the opportunity for Sheridan to join the girls in the lab and the new volunteer to go sinh shopping. The dresses are pick up from the market unsewn in a staggering variety of patterns and colors. After sheridan chose two that were toned down so she could wear them in Australia without standing out too much, we hired a songthaew (much cheaper, as with the dresses, when you have a Lao native asking the price).
After lunch we headed back to the office to have a tailor pick up the dresses, I gather it was a friends of a friend.
Afterwards, we went to a nearby guesthouse to buy minibus tickets to the four thousand islands this weekend.
For dinner I took sheridan to a dingy true lao restaurant followed by the ice cream parlour "Icy-Pooh". Sheridan got a strange 'snowflake icy' dessert which had the texture of a soft Flake chocolate bar.
Better head to bed for tomorrow's bus ride.
