Barely arrived at work today to have an Australian university group arrived, studying agriculture. Decided to join them as an intermediary to the Boloven plateau. Trip was uneventful and captured a few beetles, then I remembered I had a meeting at lunch ... Crap. Reorganised meeting for an hour later.
After arriving back the group offered me 100000kip,which I shrugged off and said they could give it to the Lao staff. After rushing off to my meeting I realised I was not permitted to accept money under my project terms anyway, lucky.
Meeting with the regional organiser went well and I feel a bit more confident about what I am doing here. I think a key actions I can undertake is to ignore many of the instructions I have been given and do what I think is plausible and reasonable. Disappointing I didn't come to that to that conclusion independently.
Headed to the office to quickly meet with some others. Once I had finished I found the other building had been locked for the night. Therefore this blog post is from my phone, as my laptop is still at the office.
The building was locked up about 4:30.
